The wedding between Britney Spears and Iranian personal trainer Sam Asghari, held last Thursday, June 9 at her home in Thousand Oaks, California, was marked by an incident with her ex-husband, Jason Alexander, who tried to sneak into the ceremony hours before for the couple to marry. The irruption was broadcast by Alexander himself through Instagram and ended with his arrest. After what happened, the singer has decided to take action on the matter and has fired her security team, which has been replaced by a new group of professionals. Spears made the decision quickly after the incident, sources close to the artist have assured the portal. TMZ and other US media have confirmed.
He has done so with the help of his lawyer, Mathew Rosengart -the same one who helped the singer to free himself from his guardianship in September 2021 after 13 years under the legal control of his father-, who has claimed to feel “very grateful” with the authorities after Alexander’s arrest for his “professionalism” and for the “seriousness with which they are taking the matter”. “This is not a ‘wedding accident.’ It was an infiltration, as we all saw, by surprise, ”he pointed out.
Spears’ ex-husband managed to bypass the security perimeter and gain access to the singer’s house hours before the couple was to marry, with the intention of disrupting the wedding. He managed to record the preparations for the link, which he broadcast live on Instagram, when he was seen and arrested around the mansion. “Britney Spears invited me here. She is my first woman, my only woman. I am her first husband. I’m here to stop the wedding,” he yelled at security agents before being detained, as the broadcast continued.
Alexander has been charged with felony stalking and bail has been set at $100,000. Despite pleading not guilty, prosecutors in California’s Ventura County have also charged him with trespassing and refusing to leave the property, as well as vandalism and assault. In addition, Spears has been granted a restraining order, by which her ex-husband must maintain a minimum distance of more than 90 meters from the singer, which will last until June 13, 2025.
The detainee is a childhood friend of Spears with whom he married in 2004 during a trip to Las Vegas, but from whom he divorced just 55 hours after the link. In September of that same year, the singer married dancer Kevin Federline, with whom she was until 2007. It was not until 2016 when Spears met her current husband on the set of her music video Slumber Party, in which Asghari appears alongside the singer, the same year he emigrated from Iran to the United States.
“I left behind my sisters and my mother. Coming here, with a completely different language, was a culture shock. I didn’t speak a word of English, but I always had a positive mindset,” he said last year in the magazine Forbes, in one of the few interviews he has given. Last September, Spears announced through her Instagram account, where she has more than 40 million followers, her commitment to Asghari. In this same social network, she has shared numerous moments of her relationship with the one who has now become her husband.
